This Privacy Policy explains how SnapCrest ("SnapCrest", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our screenshot service at snapcrest.app. SnapCrest is operated by an independent developer. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, and — if you sign in with Google — the name, email address, and basic profile information Google provides. If you register with a password, we store it only in hashed form; we cannot read it.
- Content you submit. The URLs you ask us to capture and the screenshots we generate for you. These are retained according to your plan (see Data retention below).
- Usage data. How many screenshots you take and other quota/activity information needed to run your account.
- Billing information. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our payment processor and merchant of record. We do not collect or store your full payment card details; we receive only the limited subscription and status information needed to manage your plan.
- Analytics and technical data. We use PostHog to understand how the product is used. This may include usage events, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device/browser information. See our Cookie Policy for details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide and operate the SnapCrest service and your account;
- process subscriptions and send service emails such as verification, password reset, receipts, and plan notifications (sent via SendGrid);
- understand and improve product usage and performance;
- keep the service secure and prevent abuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (security, analytics, and improving the product), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of first-party cookies that are strictly necessary for the service to work (for example, to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery), and we use PostHog for analytics. 4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers who help us run SnapCrest, and only as needed for them to perform their service:
- Dodo Payments — subscription billing and payment processing;
- SendGrid — sending transactional emails;
- PostHog — product analytics;
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google;
- our hosting provider — to host the application and database.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the security of the service.
5. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Screenshot history is retained according to your plan: 7 days on the Free plan and 30 days on the Freelancer plan. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations. Residual copies may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.
6. International data transfers
SnapCrest is operated from India, and your information is processed there and by the service providers listed above. If you access SnapCrest from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region, your information will be transferred to and processed in India and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and hashed storage of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
SnapCrest is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
